Martin was born in Stockholm 1969. Martin Terefe spent part of his childhood in Caracas, Venezuela.
Listening to American radio and taking guitar lessons his interest in making music was born. Aged 10 his parents moved back to Stockholm and Martin played in rock bands leading to a publishing deal with Roffe Persson first at EMI then with N.E.W. Music. After touring with his own 12 piece soul band, featuring young musicians and singers, many of whom are now household names in his home country, he started working in the UK through a publishing deal with Nick Phillips at MCA and moved to London in 1996.
Since then Martin has worked on an impressive list of projects as a songwriter and producer.
Always critically acclaimed and generating respect within the artist communities of London, LA and New York, Martin now has his own multi-room studio facility in West London and is managed by Michael Dixon and published by Sony ATV Music.
His production and writing credits include Ron Sexsmith, KT Tunstall, James Morrison, Martha Wainwright, a-Ha, Shea Seger, Jason Mraz, Alex Cuba Band and recently the first original pop song released by Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) since 1978. Working together with musicians and artists as diverse as Chris Martin, Chucho Valdes, Pharell Williams, Ed Harcourt, David Foster, and Kim Richey, Martins productions are as individual as the artists he works with but always with the trademark quality that has created a world wide interest for Martin Terefe his songs and productions.
