Sir Elton John duets with Engelbert Humperdinck

Martin Terefe has been in the studio recording a duet with Elton John & Engelbert Humperdinck on an album of duets to be released early next year.

“We had a great time singing together,” said Sir Elton. “He is so quick, what I call a ‘one-take singer’ – 76 years old and still sounding as good as ever.”

Humperdinck’s latest album is released 45 years after his 1967 hit Release Me secured him his first number one.

The artist, who has sold more than 150 million records worldwide and had a string of hit albums in the 1960s, has never previously performed with Sir Elton.

“This album is a true labour of love,” said Humperdinck.
Martin Terefe recorded and produced the collaboration with Sir Elton John in Los Angeles.

Lowell to release debut mini album “If You Can Solve This Jumble” on October 29th

She will also be performing at Notting Hill Arts Club on October 18th

The origin of the word Lowell in both English and French means Wolf Cub.

Lowell will release her debut mini-album on the 29th October through Meta-merge Un Records and will be performing for the very first time in the UK on the 18th October at new Notting Hill Arts Club night Cheapdate.

Lowell had been working in the studio with Martin Terefe, Grammy award winning producer and member of the Apparatjik collective (Magne F (Aha), Guy Berryman (Coldplay) and Jonas Bjerre (MEW)). Terefe and the young Canadian artist ended up duetting together for Apparatjik‘s Everybody Is One Bar project, whereby fans and other artists were encouraged to re-work tracks that would later appear on the bands second album, Square Peg In A Round HoleApparatjik immediately realised they had found a close musical relative; Lowell came from the snow just like them you see…

The rest of Apparatjik soon joined Martin and Lowell and after a four-day recording session her debut mini-album was finished. Entitled If you can You Solve This Jumble the album is released on 29th October 2012.

‘Shake Him Off‘ was the first song to be released from the album, the percussion for which was recorded in Lowell‘s bedroom in Toronto using pots and pans before being worked on with Apparatjik. It has since been played on BBC Radio 1 by both Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac as well as receiving multiple spins on BBC 6 Music.

Cold but rather beautiful in London town

Today is the 21st of November and I want to tell you about some music coming your way from the Ktown cookery……

I had the privilege to be asked to produce one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard in a while for one of my absolute favorite singers, Mary J Blige. ‘Need Someone’ is an amazing song by Matt Morris and the way Mary performs it is just breathtaking. It’s out today on her new album ‘This Life II (Act 1)’. Check it out!

Also out today is the new album ‘Come Through For You’ from Javier Colon who won ‘The Voice of America’ on NBC earlier this year. I’ve wrote a song with Pharrell for the album called ‘Stand Up’ where Javier sings withAdam Levine, and also produced a beautiful song of Javier’s called ‘The Truth’.

Finally want to shout out to everyone about Alyssa Bernalwho I made a brilliant little album with together with Pharrell. It’s out now on Interscope and has some great songs on it including co-writes with KT Tunstall and James Morrison. Unfortunately it’s only out in the US for now but keep checking back and I’ll update you on this site if I hear anything about releases elsewhere!

For now from Kensal Road…..over and out.
