New Ron Sexsmith album and the Alex Cuba Band record
Published on: 14 Oct 2003
Hello people! Autumn is here and we're in the finishing mode on the two projects that have occupied most of the last 4 months, the new Ron Sexsmith album and the Alex Cuba Band record. I will be taking a few weeks off and in early November we will be starting some exiting new projects. There will be news posted here as usual.
I will be using Andreas Olsson as a co-producer on some of the upcoming projects this year. This is really the logical conclusion of him having worked so closely with me as a programmer and engineer over the last three years. He will also have his own room in our new studio.
I can't speak highly enough of Andreas as a producer, engineer, programmer and musician. If anyone wants to get in touch with Andreas directly you can e-mail him at: fatmosphere@hotmail.com
Katie Tunstall, that I have been writing with quite a lot over the last year, has been signed to Stimulus Records (part of the Outkast, Relentless group). She's got a fantastic voice and is sure to make a great record. I'll keep you all posted!
There are plenty of releases to look forward to. Clarkesville are releasing their new single "Heavy Soul" on the 4th of November. (see: http://www.clarkesville.net) Juliet Turner will release a new single to radio shortly. It's a track called "Everything Beautiful Is Burning" that we worked on earlier in the year. (Check: www.julietturner.com). I will keep you posted on other releases this fall and keep checking the airwaves, support your local record stores and behave!
Peace to all.

Lightfoot
Published on: 09 Oct 2003
Ron Sexsmith and Martin Terefe recorded a version of Gordon Lightfoot's song "Drifters" on a tribute album for Lightfoot. Ron is a great fan of Gordon's and the song (that was recorded and mixed in a "Dogma" fashion only using recording equipment built in the 60's and 70's) turned out great.
This tribute is out now on Canada's NorthernBlues Music along with Borealis Recording Co. "Beautiful: A Tribute To Gordon Lightfoot" includes 15 tracks with performances by Bruce Cockburn, Cowboy Junkies, Tragically Hip and others. Ron performs the song "Drifters".
Electric Earth East
Published on: 01 Oct 2003
All things come to and end and in a few weeks Martin and the guys will start the daunting task of moving the studio. Electric Earth East has seen some great artists, musicians and other loose folk pass through the yellow corridors since Martin moved in the autumn of 1997. However, space is running out for the ever-growing collection of instruments, recording gear and other junk, and so time has come to move on.
The new building has been under construction since the spring last year. 2000 square feet of lovely creative space purpose built for Martins "open plan" recording technique is now ready to use.
There will still be soundproofing, cabling and decoration work being carried out for the next 6-8 weeks but around December 1 the new studio will be fully operational. There will be some photos of the move posted on the photos page shortly for anyone wanting to follow the progress.
Although the move is literally just across the street, Martin has decided to give the new studio a new name. It will be announced on this page very soon!

Back In London
Published on: 14 Aug 2003
Hello everyone,
I'm back in London after a really amazing summer. The first half of July I was working in Havana with our new Gaia Music Group signing: ALEX CUBA BAND.
It was an amazing experience in every way and the music came out great. The first album we are finishing will be called "Humo De Tabaco" and is a collection of 10 Alexis Puentes originals performed by Alex and an amazing bunch of Cuban musicians. It was a really intense couple of weeks and one of the highlights was a vocal / piano duet with Alex and Chucho Valdes. We've set up a special photos page were you could check out some pictures from the sessions.
Here in London we're halfway into a new Ron Sexsmith album. The songs are amazing as always and we've been recording with a very simple, guitar based setup this time.
I will post some more info on the progress shortly.
We will also finally be moving our studio Electric Earth this fall, to an amazing new space on the same street we are on now. We've been really happy in our current space since 1997 when we moved in, but we been outgrowing it for a while now. I will post some pictures on the photos page when we start moving consoles around. It'll be an adventure....
