KT Tunstall Debut Album
Published on: 26 Nov 2004
November is coming to an end and it has been an interesting autumn. Our Cuban favourites Alex Cuba Band are on radio in the UK most all the time and the album is now available in all the major record stores around the country. We are working on a new single for the new year and the band are planning to include the UK when they go on tour this spring. I will post details as I find out.
I recently got back from an amazing trip to Vietnam that really put a different spin on this year. We played an amazing outdoor show where we set up our gear almost like buskers in the middle of Hanoi and watched as people came from all directions to check us out. I don't know how many people where there in the end but I have some amazing pictures that I will post on the "photos" page shortly.
Andreas has been busy recording a single for Kill City on Alan McGee's Poptones label. We've also been recording a few new tracks with Nashville artist Jaci Velasquez and some new stuff with the Alex Cuba Band . The studio is really starting to feel like "our place" and we will have a Kensaltown web-site up in the new year.
Finally I'd like to remind you all that KT Tunstall's debut album "Eye To The Telescope" will be out on Relentless in a few days. You might have already seen her on the Jools Holland show or heard her on Radio 1, but if you haven't you need to. She really is amazing. If you get a chance to see her live it will blow you away and in the meanwhile you can check out her web-site: www.kttunstall.com
Peace and Happy thanksgiving!

Martin will be leaving today to play 4 concerts with Magne F. in Vietnam. This is part of an art collaboration in connection with a Norwegian state-visit. We will be posting some pictures on the site on Martin's return. Magne's solo-album "Past, Perfect, Future Tense" will be released in the UK in February next year.

Alexis Puentes from the Alex Cuba Band and Ron Sexsmith have been in London shooting a video for the Radio 2 hit Lo Mismo Que Yo (If Only). The updated Alex Cuba Band release dates in the UK are October 26 for the single and November 8 for the album. Both are produced by Martin and Alexis Puentes and were recorded the summer of 2003 in the legendary Egrem Studios in Havana. Also Ron Sexsmith will be finishing his European tour at the Queen Elisabeth Hall on October 12th and Alexis will be singing the duet live with Ron on this special occasion.
Three Months... Finally An Update
Published on: 09 Sep 2004
I know! Three months, no updates....what can I say. Summer has been good with a long break with the family. Back in London now with an exiting few months ahead. We will be in the studio the next few weeks finishing work with Jake Bullit. Andreas has been working away on an EP with Norwegian band Girl Happy. The album we did with Magne F. is being released in September by Universal in Norway and will be available everywhere else in the early spring. The record really turned out great and the musicians include Guy and Will from Coldplay, Ed Harcourt, Andy Dunlop as well as me and Norwegian drummer Frode Lamoy. For some vibes check out www.magne-f.net or come see him at Notting Hill Arts Club on Thursday September 23.
Alex Cuba Band was aired on the Jonathan Ross show last weekend and you should be able to hear his amazing duet with Ron Sexsmith on the airwaves over the next few months. The album will be out in the UK in October. Alexis and the band will be on tour in Japan, Brazil and the UK during October and November. Make sure you get to see them if they are playing anywhere near you!
Ron Sexsmiths album "Retriever" has been making noise all around and he is currently on tour (as always) so you should be able to find a date in your country if you go to his website: www.ronsexsmith.com. Also the official opening (it's been operating since January) of the new studio, Kensaltown Recording Studios London will finally happen at the end of this this month. There will be a big party and I'll make sure some photos from the opening will be posted on the site. The studio web-site is being designed in the next few weeks and I'll then update the Studio link on this site as well!
So, all the best for now and stay tuned (!?).
Peace.
Martin
Alexis Puentes
Published on: 11 Jun 2004
Alexis Puentes from the Alex Cuba Band will be in London next week working on a duet with Leeds singer Corinne Bailey Rae for the UK release of "Humo De Tabaco". It feels apropriate to have the Cubans move in as the temperature is rising in London town (and at Kensaltown...).
We also just received a mastered copy of the Brinkman debut album. It was mixed in Kensaltown by Andreas Olsson apart from one track mixed by Steve Osborne. Steve also has produced the debut album from KT Tunstall for Stimulus/Outcaste. Martin and KT wrote part of the album together last year. We will try to get some more information shortly!
Jaci Velasquez

Martin is in London working with Nashville based singer Jaci Velasquez. He has been involved both as writer and producer on her upcoming album. It's also been a project that has seen Nick Whitecross back in the studio with Martin along with Kelly Pribble, Michael Clarke, Andreas Olsson, Jake Bullit and Christer Janson. The Kensaltown team! Jaci will be finishing vocals this week and the album should be finished in the late summer. Stay tuned!
Jake Bullit

Jake Bullit is in the m********ing house tonight! The outspoken dude from Birmingham is in Kensaltown putting the finishing touches to an upcoming EP together with Andreas and Martin. There will hopefully be some music available soon as well as a Jake Bullit web-site. Don't go away....
Michael Brauer
Published on: 28 May 2004
Long time no update as usual. It's been a busy few months in the Terefe world. Martin is just back from New York where he has completed and mixed the upcoming solo album for Magne F (from A-Ha). Michael Brauer was again behind the mix controls and the album will be mastered next week by George Marino at Sterling Sound. We will post details on the release as we know more. Andreas Olsson has been hard at work on the Brinkman (formerly known as "The Vessels") album and this second co-production with Martin for Sony will be released early 2005.
The new studio is great and now fully up and running. We will be updating the "studio" link very shortly but this part of the site may be down the next few weeks as we work on the update. Please check back soon.

Support our favourite songwriter by calling in and requesting the single be played in your city! "Retriever" is produced by Martin and recorded in London last year. The musicians on the album include Martin, Claes Bjorklund (Tribeca), Ed Harcourt, Christer Jansson and Neil Primrose (Travis).
Kensaltown Recording Studios
Published on: 16 Feb 2004
Hello everyone! Sorry there hasn't been any updates on the site recently. It's been crazy here in London with us finally moving in to our new studio, Kensaltown Recording Studios London, lots of work as usual, and the blessing of a new little one in da house!
Anyway, we've been in finishing and starting mode at the same time. We've finished Ron Sexsmiths new album "Retriever" which will be out this spring. Also Andreas Olsson and I have just finished the Sharon Eusebe album (I'll keep all of you posted on release details!).
Still a mix away from finishing the amazing ALEX CUBA BAND debut album that we recorded in Havana last summer.
We've been really getting in to full production mode with Magne F. (from A-HA) and his very interesting solo project. I'm actually on the way to Oslo for some more recording on that project as I'm writing this. It will be a great record and I'll post some information on the progress here very soon.
This year will be a busy one with several exciting projects coming up so I won't promise too much.....but it is time for an updated discography, some pictures and a new studio site for Kensaltown. (at least!) So keep checking....you may be surprised!
It's late now and I've got an early flight tomorrow so I'll stop here. My son turned three today and we had a great day. He just fell asleep on the sofa and I won't get to play fire-engine again until Sunday.......
Peace to all.
Martin
