Today is independence day....whilst back on the isles it's the release day of an awesome album celebrating the UK soul music scene.

Over the last week the press has been raving about Beverley Knights new album 'Soul UK'. A retrospect of british made soul music that put her on her journey to become the undeniable force of nature on the brit-soul scene that she is.

Most of the album was produced by Martin Terefe including the amazing version of Soul II Soul's 'Fairplay' that became Beverley's first ever #1 song on the UK urban chart.

The track listing of sometimes obscure and overlooked songs and other times world-wide smash hits will take some down memory lane and others might discover some properly wicked soul music made in the UK for the first time......so off you go!
